About Us

Who We Are

Long Live Idaho is an initiative of Eat Smart Idaho. The app helps Idaho residents and visitors discover fun ways to stay physically active, eat healthy, and find locally-sourced produce across the state.

Eat Smart Idaho

Brought to you by the University of Idaho Extension in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Eat Smart Idaho helps adults and families learn the basics of:

  • healthy eating;
  • smart shopping;
  • food safety;
  • quick meal preparation;
  • management of limited grocery dollars;
  • increased levels of physical activity; and
  • working with a nutrition advisor.

Collaborating with over 200 community partners, our nutrition advisers teach classes for adults and youth in about 37 Idaho counties. Classes are taught at emergency food sites, food stamp offices, adult rehabilitation centers, public housing sites and schools with high numbers of free and reduced lunch participants.

Eat Smart Idaho is supported by two USDA grants:

  1. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) in partnership with the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare and the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service; and
  2. EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) in partnership with the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture.

This project is funded by USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
